<< Dianne, go back to animal thoughts. Are there any places where animals are

Having raised a few monkeys (and hyenas, tigers and other critters) myself... The babies I got were usually out of hand-raised mothers. The mothers would breed (and the mothers were VERY old once they finally bred) and would reject their offspring. My thought was, the monkey, having been raised by humans, thought it was a human. She couldn't believe the baby coming out of her would like like one of "those monkeys," so she rejected the baby. I sincerely believe if the baby came out looking like one of us, she would have indeed embraced the child.

As far as latching goes, I don't know. The hand-raised animals almost categorically rejected their young. And the hand-raised animals tended to be the most aggressive. Again, I think they believed they were human and couldn't understand why they weren't toting keys and opening doors, instead of being left behind in a locked arena.

Best wishes,
Sam
