I received a call from a nurse in a pediatrician's office who is working
with a mother of a breastfeeding baby who the mother thinks is too fat.
I have been looking for information on this aspect and coming up with no
articles or textbooks that comment on this issue. I don't have any
specifics about this baby other than that it is a girl about 3 months of
age who is otherwise quite healthy.

We so often deal with babies who are slow to gain weight. This is a new
one for me. I have seen many 'chubby' nurslings, but there is usually a
sense of pride in the mother that her baby is thriving on her milk
alone. Possibly the recent spotlight on obesity has brought out this
mother's concern.

If you have anything to share on this topic, it will help this colleague
to support this mother and baby.
