Gonneke, you would think this would be rather important piece of information
in the "risks of formula feeding" category, wouldn't you? Early onset of
menses means increased risk of cancers, increased opportunity of pregnancy,
increased costs of all of the menstrual products.

No, in breastfed children it is rather uncommon to start menses before the
10th year of life or later. There is however a tendency in soy-based formula
fed girls to start menses as early as 9 years old or even younger. 
In excl. breastfed girls who have early menses there might be a connection
wit a high protein/high fat diet after breastfeeding.

I do wonder if there is anything in literature about any effects of the
phyto-estrogens in soy-based formulas on boys.
