I worked with a mom who had a neurofibromatoma on either side of her nipple, which just about doubled the size of the nipple widthwise and were about the same length as the nipple. Since I was in new territory, we decided as long as the baby got a good mouthful, it should work. Fortunately the baby had a wonderful wide latch - latched right over "the whole shebang" and nursed happily for a year. (Well - not all in the hospital! But it worked just fine.)
