It will be impossible to find any breastfeeding information on tamsulosin since
it is not indicated for use in women.
Tamsulosin is extensively bound to plasma protein (94-99%) and has a large
volume of distribution which both bode well for very little of the drug getting
into the breast milk. It reaches its peak concentration in plasma at around 4-6
hours (depending upon whether the medication is taken with food or not), so with
a two year old, the mother could avoid this period to nurse, and thus expose the
child to even less of the drug.
The main side effect of the medication is orthostatic hypotension and dizziness.
The mother could observe her child for these symptoms as a rough gage of whether
significant amounts of the drug were in her breast milk.
Any information was requested, and this is the best I could come up with.
As always, based on this, the mom will need to take this information into
account as to whether to take the tamsulosin.
Personally, I would go for it in this situation.
