This is a late reply (have been busy working on presentations, so no
time for Lactnet last week)...

One thing everyone seems to be missing is the REASON mom had blebs,
mastitis, etc.  I suspect that blebs are more likely when there is poor
drainage of the breast, and we know mastitis is too.  Especially since
this mom still has pain on latch, I would check the baby's latch and
sucking again, to see if there is excessive compression of the nipple or
breast.  The deep breast pain can easily be caused by that, as well as
the nipple pain.
