Lynda,

If the mom is indeed leaking mature milk (did you see it yourself and make
sure it wasn't just creamy colostrum?), you are dealing with a high risk
situation. For milk production to start, progesterone must drop.. This can
happen with placental insufficiency and/or threatened premature labor. If
milk production starts and is not continued, involution can set in before
delivery, resulting in little or no milk afterwards. I would look very
closely at what is happening here.

Hi Lactnetters all over the world
I have permission to post. A mom who breastfed her 1st baby is now 37 wks
with baby no 2. She has had colostrum for a few weeks already but now is
leaking milk +++She is due for an elective Caesarean section scheduled at 38
weeks. Will this milk revert to colostrum for the baby once the placenta is
out or will the new baby miss out on it?
Hope someone out there has experience with this.

Thanks Lynda Lilienfeld RN. RM. IBCLC
