Allison Steube did an excellent presentation on blebs. Her research showed that these blebs often contained milk cells. Poor vacuum by baby or compression of the tip of the nipple, with various causes, results in milk not being removed quickly and cells being retained under the skin. Her recommendation for treatment was medium strength steroids. No relation to coconut oil or mom's diet.

Subject: virgin coconut oil and milk blebs

Hi,

Could application of virgin coconut oil on the nipples contribute to developing milk blebs because of the high amount of saturated fats? To my knowledge high internal consumption of saturated fat might contribute to occurrence of milk blebs (although I haven't found any research evidence of that).

Thanks for you input, appreciate it.

Cheers,
