I agree that we tend to get a sense of where a mom may wind up, but we need to be careful that our first impressions don't color our actions.  While the majority of my first impressions, guesses or whatever turn out to be right, there is that mom that surprises me.  Her baby will often turn her around once she falls in love with it.  These are the moms who initially only want to nurse a short time but wind up nursing a toddler or even tandem nursing.  Parents who "know" ahead of time exactly how they will parent or how the baby will "fit" into their existing lifestyle have done complete turn arounds once baby arrives.  Mothers with far less than ideal birth experiences whether of their own "choosing" or not have gone on to have great breastfeeding experiences.  I fear there is a danger that our preconcieved ideas or psychic premonitions or whatever could subtly and unconsciously impact how we approach helping her.  I'm not saying we would deliberately treat her differently, but I have to wonder about any unintentional differences we might not even be aware of.
