There is no "Christian" view of breastfeeding, per se. Each congregation in
over a couple hundred denominations of Christian churches has its own
cultural or accepted view of breastfeeding. In the instance of Anna's post,
however, you would find Christian's and congregations on both sides of this
issue. Many congregations ask women to nurse in an appointed area and many
churches even prefer that small babies not attend services with their
parents and may have speakers in nursery rooms to allow mothers to not miss
the service while they are nursing their babies. Another side would say, in
this case, that this act of prohibition is turning away children...something
which scripturally Christ would not condone.

Many, many other Christian congregations (individual churches) welcome
nursing mothers and their babies anywhere, anytime.

The Bible has wonderfully kind and fuzzy references to breastfeeding and the
nurturing relationship of the mother to the nurseling. It also has
references to "stewardship" of any of the material and spiritual (talents)
gifts we are given. In regard to bf, mother's milk is a powerful resource
that has been given to women and good stewardship, in this matter, might be
to "use" it for the good of your family and your child and your world.
