IMO this might also be coincidence.  A noticeable milk supply drop at three
to four months usually sends up a red flag for me that some type of
scheduled feeding or an inattentiveness, inadvertant or otherwise, to
feeding cues might exist.  It's a time when women are being told to start
cereal, or that their baby doesn't need night feeds anymore, or that the
baby should be sleeping through the night, or the bassinet is put away and
the baby gets cribbed in another room, friends and relatives start
pressuring the mom about getting her life back in "order", and working moms
have used up their initial freezer stockpile whih would indicate their
supply problem is not really new.  From what I've seen, the combination of
several of those factors seems to be fairly common for the 2-4 month pp time
period.
