Another cause of "inflated weights" I found was a very poorly
maintained/calibrated scale at an MD's office.  He was always requiring
mothers to supplement due to excessive weight loss - until I came in with my
Baby Weigh scale and weighed a baby during the same visit - almost 12 ounces
difference!  The weight was not "inflated" at birth but rather "deflated" at
the office!
