Hi All,

Just wanted to add a few things.  Right after I got my IBCLC and my first
patient in the hospital was a mother who just discovered that she was abused and
was just starting counseling.  Long story, mad the nurses happy to see that I
was not a fanatic.  Anyway, that sent me thinking about hidden agendas in
mothers.  One of the main triggers for memory  is the sense of smell, and
another is position.  There are many smells and strange positions during birth.
I believe that many of the mother's we can't understand, (that seem to be
sabotaging themselves) are women who can not verbalize their abuse.  They want
to keep all of that in their little black box.  The thing that I have struggled
with all these years is who is ready to hear me ask the question "were you
abused" and who are the ones who are not ready to hear that.  There are many
women my age (50) that are just now able to admit that they have a problem.

I am enjoying this topic because it is so important that we know all we can to
help these women get help.
