I asked my 5yo DD tonight.  She said that babies NEED nums (breastfeeding)  That nums taste good, are sweet and healthy (we spend a lot of time discussing what healthy foods are as she has a terribly sweet tooth).  That nums make you feel good and help you go to sleep.
