Hello and Happy Holidays to all on this list. After reading Kathleen's post and
Rachel's I needed to chime in.
For those of us that work alone. Lactnet is a network that we need to reach
out for help. I have always been give wonderful advice and able to learn from
others posts.
I really feel that it also helped me pass the exam. When you only deliver 500
babies a year you don't get alot of variations. Our premature babies are
transferred if they are born here unless they are 36 weeks and stable. I
usually try to follow some when they are back home with mom. At least if mom
still has the stamina to continue to breastfeed.
In todays economy I really think it only makes sense for women to breastfeed.
If they will only try they will come away with alot more rewards then saving a
ton of money on formula. When I go into the childbirth classes or teach
breastfeeding classes I really try to let them know that breastfeeding is about
a lot more than feeding your child. They will only get to know that if they
experience it.
This has been a rewarding year for those moms that have tried and continued.
Bless you all.
