Am I the only one to see this: "I want everyone to know about the wonderful
breastfeeding support center at
Mega Pick n' Save in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It is an individual display
called the nursing center with a picture of mom and baby. It has a whole
bunch of Medela products, from pumps to pads to a breastfeeding pillow. " with
ueasy, doubting eyes. I understand the thrill of seeing public depiction of bf
in a positive way (especially when it is not promoting anything baby-related: a
bank used a bf picture here some years ago, and Gay Palmer has a memorable slide
of a Norwegian advert for sardines "the next best thing to mothers' milk")

BUT

A company is trying to increase sales. For me, an important aspect of bf is
that is made by women outwith the capitalist/proto-capitalist/mercantile,
etc.etc. economic system. the means of production are -- or could be -- in the
remit of the primary producer and the consumer. No middleman.

Sigh. don't mean to start the weary round of 'well, pumps are a good thing (in
their place)'. Just to say --yeah, its great to see bf positively protrayed in
public, but could we call it a support centre?
