I had a mom recently and I was wondering if anyone else had seen something
like this before.

Mom had first baby (early/pre-term from PROM) & c/sec. Was pumping at home
with the freestyle and was having low milk (not using rental pump at all).
We switched her to a classic to try to up supply, after a week she was
seeing better results and wanted to keep using the rental instead of single
user pump. Then a few days later felt one side had 'less suction'. She
felt it wasn't pulling as much as other side and milk wasn't releasing.
When she massaged the breast she could feel it was full and after some
massage that breast would start releasing milk while pumping.

We checked the entire pump kits (switched out parts) and with my pressure
gauge there was no really difference between sides (maybe less than 5 mmHg
from one shield to the other). I even tried another pump. She still felt
the pump wasn't 'pulling' enough. She had gone back to using her personal
pump and felt it was getting the milk out better.

Has anyone ever seen/heard this with a pumping mom before? Would you think
it's the pump or the kit? I was thinking it may be how mom felt about
pumping. She was one of the ones who gets teary because it is so much work,
pumping, supplementers, extra feeding, nursing, etc and just doesn't know
how much more she can handle so I was wondering if it was emotional. I
thought she might need the skin to skin to raise her prolactin and assist
her letdown. But for the most part I was at a loss, any ideas from anyone?
