I've just read Jack Newman's post about jaundice and I'd like to share my
experience with all of you.
He wrote that <.........'breastfeeding babies are almost always
jaundiced'...........>
In my experience working as a maternity nurse for over 6 years now and
recently certified as an IBCLC, I've noticed that (with proper
breastfeeding management) breastfed babies often don't get jaundiced at all
(due to frequent bowel movements etc.), unlike their artificially fed
counterparts who sometimes look canary-yellow.
I'm only referring to the first ten days of life. I'd really like your
feedback on this.
Is this just a coincidence.......only happening in The Netherlands......or
do I need some time off...........??????
Kind regards from the land of wooden shoes and tulips,
Renate Rietveld, IBCLC.
