Oh yes, people have various degrees of sensitivity to anything. I find
it can be hard on a new mother to completely eliminate dairy, and
usually tell her that she will probably be able to reintroduce some
dairy products later on. There's almost always another mother attending
LLL meetings who had to eliminate most dairy for a while and is now able
to eat a wider variety. Obviously, this is not the case for true
allergies, but most of the time, I find that it is rather a sensitivity.
R & A is one reference for reintroducing cooked milk before whole milk
-- this was the case of several members of my own family. I find that
there is a trend towards total elimination diets in our community now,
and a corresponding number of mothers who are discouraged that they
can't eat "anything" while breastfeeding.
