Hello Ann

It doesn't contravene the Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes for
this product to be *sold*, but if there is any "shelf talker", ie any sign
singling out the "special features" of this product, or any special
placement of the product, eg special bins or display, or if there is a
greater than 80% discount on retail cost, then this would be a
contravention.

However a bigger issue is at stake here. The fact that a NATURAL FOOD
store would stock, let alone promote the sale of, such a non-natural product
implies that their whole business is based on false or inadequate knowledge
of what is really healthy and natural.

Please remind the owners about the species-specificity of mammalian milk.
Just as it would be terrible to feed a calf on human milk, so is it wrong to
feed a human baby on other milks *no matter how "organic"*! There are
references available querying the use of soy milks for humans - perhaps
others on Lactnet can help with these.

I can appreciate that the owners would like to recoup the cost of this
purchase where someone else let them down. Can they not return the goods to
their supplier? Life is sometimes tough. It would be a wonderful gesture
for them to let this go, and show that they value the wonderful health
benefits of real, natural, human milk.

Best wishes

excruciating, legal processes)
