I know of no research showing a correlation between verbal dyspraxia and breastfeeding. It seems fairly counterintuitive that the complex motor sequences needed for breastfeeding would then lead to or contribute to motor planning problems for speech. Amy's hypothesis seems feasible. And I agree with her recommendation not to nurse at therapy sessions. It's hard to talk when your mouth's full! I would also ask toddlers for their pacifiers during speech therapy for this same reason. 

It sounds like mom is committed to nursing. I see no reason, from a speech pathology perspective, that she would need to wean. I do agree she should refrain from nursing during speech therapy sessions. But if anything I would expect nursing to improve the quality of oral motor movements and sequencing, not hurt them.
