I got a call from a para 1 mom with a 3 wk old baby.
She just completed a 7 day course of antibiotics for "uterine lining
infection" and felt she had thrush.
These were the findings:
exclusive bf
only 1 breast affected
white pimple on nipple
burning, shooting pain when nursed that side, breast full
had low grade fever days ago (from uterine infection?)
no vaginitis, no baby thrush symptoms, no itchiness
not using pacifiers or pumps
I'm not sure it's thrush. How common is thrush on one side only?
I personally had experienced a plugged duct with a plug in the nipple pore
(like a small pimple).
I recommended and she tried with immediate success:
Soaking nipple, breast in basin of very warm water
Gentle massage of area, express milk
She reports good relief, breast softer, can stand to nurse now without
crying. I checked on her next day and she feels well, with just a few
seconds of latch on pain.
Your thoughts or experience with this anyone?

P.S. Once I start responding, I never shut up. This Lactnet is great for us
mostly homebodies!
