Dear Nikki,
I see too many moms that interpret their baby's frequent feeding behaviour
in the first few days to mean that they are hungry and not getting enough.
Usually this leads to formula supplementation and the mom going home with a
stash of formula from the hospital as allowed by the policies for moms
doing both breast and bottle.

Sometimes it helps to interpret a baby's behaviour to a new inexperienced
mom. I usually tell the moms that it is better to have a baby that is
demanding than a sleepy, placid one.

Warmly,
Vaishali
