Dear Lactnetters,

I have another angle on our "bruising" discussion. A mother I saw some days
ago as an inpatient complained of sore breast and baby wanting to nurse all
the time. When I looked at her breasts the nipple looked fine. However,
there were bruises on the breast tissue even beyond the aerola.

This mother had not been centering nipple and baby mouth! Baby was sucking
any old place. This delightful mother agreed to let me take some slides of
her breasts. I wish this had happened during a nursing student rotation day.
I love this kind of show-and-tell.
