I know a lot of MOT that pump daily to save milk for helper feeds or because of return to work. Many "tandem pump" during one or two feedings during the AM to early afternoon -- just feed each twin individually. Although the 2nd to feed may not be thrilled for a day or two, production usually increases quickly to meet the demand. Others pump between one or two AM to early afternoon feedings, e.g. pump an hour after a feeding. Again, production usually increases after a day or two. Having BF twins that alternated hours waking for their first two years, I can appreciate the desire to not wish to interrupt sleep, but that may end up being a good time for tandem pumping; some MOT have everything by their bedside, including a cooler for the EBM, to make it easier.

Once at work she may want to BF or pump at least once, but twice if possible, before leaving for school.

I'm trying to imagine having to return to work when I had young twins and my preschoolers -- ugh. BF not withstanding, I hope she has the help she needs at home so she can relax a bit when the day is done! I've met more than one MOT who ran herself virtually into the ground trying to do it all and be everything for everyone! Please tell her to take care of her, too!

Karen
