Hi Fiona,
Reynaud's is spontaneous vasospasm in response to cold.  Nipple
vasospasms can also be caused by excessive compression.  Vasospasms from
compression can be very persistent, even after the compression stops.
They are usually painful, moms describe a stinging or burning sensation
in the nipple and breast.  Warming the nipple often helps restore
circulation.

In this case, the baby might be defending against a fast milk flow.  If
mom can reduce the supply a bit (bf on one breast at a feed; then twice
on one breast, or more if necessary to bring things into balance) the
baby might stop clamping.

Mom should also use an asymmetrical latch to encourage the baby to use
the tongue more and the jaw less.  The baby might resist this if the
flow is very high, so she may have to gently increase the asymmetry of
the latch over several weeks.
