Good afternoon. I just wanted to emphasize, after having a day to think
things over, that it is not Tony Knox's ideas that spurred me to write the
note I did yesterday. I mentioned that if people supported that type of
behavior, that they could just as well unsubscribe. Perhaps that was too
roughly written, and for that, I apologize.

To clarify, I just want to say that I value each and every subscriber on
this list. I am so glad you are here, even those that lurk.... You are
welcome to hold differing opinions, and you may even be surprised that some
of us may feel similarly to you. I, for one, am not a proponent of violence
in any way shape, or form. I look for non-violent solutions to every
problem, realizing that others may not agree. I agree to disagree..

Politics and Lactnet don't mix well, and we have tried to keep Lactnet a
"clean" list, where people from many countries can feel welcome. I hope
that remains the case, because I will work towards that for as long as I
own this list. I respect other people's opinions. I feel pain at the pain
that some of us are feeling now, the loss that even some of our own
subscribers are feeling in the aftermath of such violence.

I am sorry if I was not sensitive in my post. I was shocked at the events
of the past day on Lactnet, in terms of rudeness and in terms of tonality.
As Rachel said, it is not the ideas that are objectionable. It was the
vehicle..and the tone.

Thank you all for bearing with us as we work to keep the list focused on
breastfeeding. Each and every one of you is irreplaceable in terms of how
our list "lives." And thanks go to my fellow list administrators who work
diligently, reading every post, and making sure that the focus remains on
breastfeeding, and that our own allegiances do not make us blind to the
feelings of others.

Thanks. Kathleen
