Dear Linda and all,
Here is my .02 on fitness bras during lactation.
While I was nursing I found two bras that worked well for me. The
regular jogging bras that simply flatten the breasts and push them into one's
chest did not work for me. This was a while ago and I don't know if they're
still produced but the HIND bra worked OK when my chldren were a little
older, and my breasts weren't huge. It supported each breast separately but
was a tight slip-over-the-head type . JOGBRA had one style they called for
larger-breasted women which also supported each breast separately, had a 1and
1/2" wide band under the breasts, strong adjustable elastic straps, and three
choices of hooks in the back. Mine was a 36-38C/D ( where did those days go!)
and was very comfortable for running. Caution to moms who run too early after
birth, for me the upper extremity pumping and/or inevitable bouncing caused a
huge plug my first day out. After getting rid of it I still waited another
month or two to start running again, switched to cycling and swimming in the
interim.
Now that we have in-line skates no bouncing problems anymore...
