To make what I take to be Laurie's point even clearer:   The "excessive"
nursing and weight gain are not problems in themselves, and so should not be
treated in any way.  But they may be signs of something else that is a
problem, such as an allergy.  If that's the case, treating the underlying
problem may reduce these signs as well.
