I bought a Professional Liability policy from Marsh Affinity / Seabury & Smith, effective 10/07/06 for part time, <20 hrs/week, limits of $2Mill / $4Mill and paid $248.00 for one year's coverage.

Because I'm home-based, they refused to write General Liability coverage. Not too long after that, USLCA announced a less expensive option. When renewal is due, I'll go to USLCA's company.

Wonder if Marsh has different proposals for IBCLCs of different education / training backgrounds?

The fact that Marsh sees an increasing liability risk may be a good argument to add to those working on licensure in their various states. We really need to know the reasoning behind this rate hike.

Or else they could just be ornery. Maybe they don't want to write LC coverage any more and the best way to stop it is to hike the premiums so much that we just go away and leave them alone. That way they won't have to explain a denial of coverage or renewal.
