Colostrum color varies dramatically. I have see clear,
to white yellow, honey brown to black and red with
blood. Thick and thin. My point is that the literatrue
usually states the colostrum is "yellow and thick" and
that is true for some women, but in reality the color
is varied...there needs to be more accurrate
information in press, documented by LCs about the true
description/characteristics of colostrum, to avoid
concern and fear. Diane Wiessinger and I discussed
this years ago, and we thought that a descriptive
study/article be developed and submitted to JHL or
some professional journal with a clearer description
of colostrum would be appropriate.

Since the baby is well and has been feeding for 2
days, there is little reason for concern. If she had
not seen it, there would be no alarm. Observe the true
milk in a few days. Others on this list serve may want
to describe their observations and outcomes of the
babty ingesting colored milk .
