So I'm reading the list and honestly trying to figure out why as a Speech Language Pathologist we fit into this category? I don't give nutritional advice per se as an SLP -- I give feeding information, support, therapy -- but that's not the same thing. Maybe I'm just jaded because so many of my feeding kids have been autism spectrum and we're just happy to get them to eat something besides chicken nuggets.

That being said, I can understand the IBCLC being an associate member moreso than the SLP. My IBCLC background has provided more nutritional background information (heck it was required!) -- nowhere in my speech training was nutritional education required beyond learning about thickeners and the like in dysphagia, and the brief mentions of breastfeeding in cranio-facial.

In all serious though, what benefits are their as an IBCLC to an associate membership with the ADA? I guess I'm not really understanding the reasons behind them even offering this if they don't want anyone giving out nutritional information but them?
