This thread reminds me of how I finally got my then 2.5 month old to 
latch without a nipple shield.  I strapped on a My Breast Friend nursing 
pillow and walked up and down the hall with him.  The swaying motion 
calmed him enough that he was willing to try latching without the 
shield.  It worked very well when nothing else had!
