Maurenne, your post makes good sense to me as far as both your germs and
potential protection for you.

But it does seem to me that an integral part of that protection is that you
say that you always use latex-free gloves.  I have the weird impression that
there are good, conscientious folks out there who would never dream of
exposing a neonate to, say, peanut butter, or in many cases even cow's milk,
who are not real scrupulous about the possibility of exposure to latex
("there's so much other latex in the hospital anyway," etc).

Karen Querna's point about teaching the mom to check the suck is a smart one,
too.
