More thoughts on this...
FIRST, and most importantly, I have never purchased a hospital grade pump,
privately or at my workplace. I am not the person who does this where I
work.
SECOND, I have never used/visited/oriented myself to e-bay or other internet
auction sites. Thus, I know nothing of how they work, nor am I seeking
information on how to use them.

It seems, however, that a merchant or manufacturer may be powerless to
prevent an internet merchandiser from buying up quantities of their product
and then selling them at discount prices. It is hard for me to see how this
would turn a profit for the auctioneer, but I guess a small markup and a
huge volume are as good as a larger markup and lower volume. Or am I
mistaken ?

I don't know what Medela's price policy is. I prefaced my conjecture with
an 'if' - if they are selling their pumps over the internet, at cut-rates,
then they should be asked. If it is a third agent marketing them on the
internet, not Medela itself, then it isn't necessarily Medela's fault that
they are out there.
