This one sure does hurt.

Yes, we've experienced similar situations.  I think the number one best
way to combat
this issue is by getting to know the hospital staff and by them getting
to know you.  The nurse
was probably saying this from what she has heard and not from what she
knows.  When
the organization is more than a name but also a person with a face most
of the "bashing" disappears.
They still may have their opinions but now they know someone who they
(hopefully)like and don't want
to hurt so they steer clear as it almost becomes personal.
