I am looking for an LC who has alot of experience working with twins. They
are 2 1/2 weeks old, born at 37 6/7 weeks. One baby a great nurser the other
Baby B is very lazy and wouldn't eat if we didn't make him. Baby B needed to
be syringe/ finger fed one time in the hospital but BF all other feedings.
Had small problem with jaundice which did not require tx. and is now
resolved. Day 4 of life had OP visit, Latched well. Not aggressive nurser.
FAlls asleep easily, Family began finger/syringe feeding when infant did not
nurse well. 3 days later family now having difficulty with latch on and baby
still falls asleep easily nursing for about 7 minutes. Mom instructed on SNS
infant took 1oz in supplementor had strong suck which mother reports she had
not felt infant suck that strong before. Mom does not like the supplementor,
has not been using r/t having difficulty getting infant to open his mouth.
Infant has only been receiving breast milk, but the parents are exhausted
between caring for 2 babies, pumping and now they are bottle feeding B breast
milk. They still report infant as a lazy eater. I have strongly encouraged
them to use the supplementor if they have hopes to get the baby to the
breast. Anyone have alot of experience with this kind of situation? Please
e-mail me at PattyR2000. If anyone can help I will give your thier e-mail
address to converse with them directly. Thanks
