I have had 4 moms in the past several years who were successful with nursing
and no formula ever used. But I have certainly had many, many more
unsuccessful cases. Right now I have another hopeful. But the baby is under triple
photo therapy at 68 hrs for a 17.1 bili. It was 14.7 (baby is Coombs negative)
early this morning and the ARNP from the Neonatal unit is seeing the baby since
mom's Pediatrician doesn't come to our hospital. Baby transferred 20MLs
while nursing and mom pumped out another 17 after nursing. I just hope the ARNP
doesn't have this mom so scared by morning that the baby is on tons of formula.
I heard her tell the nurse the baby had to stay under the lights for
feedings, which are to be done every three hours! Just makes me upset and sad. And
I have a sinus thing going on so I am not in a fighting mood today.
