hospital administrator about her breastfeeding her child at the hospital.
They have no objection to her child being at the hospital (many of the
medical staff bring their kids with them if they are only going to be there a
short while) just to the breastfeeding. >>

I worked in a hospital when my dd was an infant until she was well past
toddlerhood. I was told by a friendly physician that the Head Nurse on
postpartum had stated that I only nursed my daughter in meetings to make a
political statement (not b/c she really wanted to nurse.) There were many,
many other rude coments, mostly from nutritionists (RDs), social workers and
nurses. Of course, most of the comments were either behind my back or made in
such a way as to have dual meaning. Some were direct. It was a very
antagonistic environment. I think these kinds of attitudes run very deep and
are not likely to change anytime soon. What always struck me was that these
people felt they had the right to treat me this way and that I should feel
inferior for the choices I was making. Imagine the climate that even allows
your former partner's colleagues to believe they *can* make this complaint!!!
This should be unthinkable.
