Thanks to everyone who commented on the diabetic mum. It was most helpful
and comforting.

She did indeed miss our appointment, but texted to say she had forgotten
about her doctor's appointment. I have to trust that she had her blood
sugar levels checked. She let me know that the baby was back on 60 mls per
feed as he had not put on enough weight (which relieves me as much as it
saddens me). This is less than he had been taking.

When I offered another home visit (and this is all without charge as we are
funded to provide breastfeeding help in the community) she said she didn't
mind if I came to visit, but she was "fine". Pamela, you probably
surmised correctly that she does not want yet another health professional
involved in her situation, and is brushing me off. And that's fine. I had
already outlined my observations and fears to her Well-Child provider, and
I'm sure they will keep a watchful eye on the baby.

Best wishes
Jacquie
