I think it's important to:
(1) find out more about details of surgery procedure (with mother's permission)
(2) re-assess effectiveness of antibiotic... 

I saw a mum about 18 months ago who had recurrent mastitis - it was her
fourth baby and this had also been happening with her third - needless to
say a very determined mum.

It came to light that she had been prescribed 10 courses of antibiotics over
that period - seeing different doctors within the same practice - ie doctors
were just 'copying' the previous prescription.

When I referred her to an LC I know who is also a doctor, she was given the
'right' antibiotic and has not had any further problems.

As staph aureus seems to be the most common offender, it's really important
that the antibiotic is specifically targetted to knock it out (not familiar
with your generic brand names, so not sure about the one you mentioned).
