In regards to Rachel Mry's post about breastfeeding after radiation treatment for Hodgkins' lymphoma. A client of mine had a 5 yr. span between treatment for Hodgkins and her first pregnancy that was not expected by the physician. A beautiful baby boy was born at term. Little Isaac nursed well from birth. Then when he wanted more than just a snack, the mother diligently pumped and took red raspberry and fenugreek. She never could pump more than an ounce total from both sides. This mother was disappointed she couldn't nurse but was able to move on to enjoying her little one. She was so thankful for: 1)she was alive 2)she had given birth to a baby 3)she had the experience of nursing her baby
It will be interesting if the mother you are working with will have more of a milk supply. The body is amazing and perhaps there is more healing and repair that has happened. So stay hopeful with this next baby and watch. Please let us know what happens. Thank you.
