I think its a wonderful idea to put together "alternative" give-away packs
for new moms, to replace "formula bags".

Certain businesses would be very smart to be part of these packs. New
families are going through alot of changes, and will be changing alot of
their buying habits. So this is a prime time to influence them and make
sure your product is part of the new buying patterns. Any products that are
used by new families (rather than singles or couples only) would be smart to
provide coupons, gifts, etc.
And as I said before, breastfeeding families will have $100-$150/month more
DISPOSABLE income because they are not buying formula.

And in Canada, where most of these new moms will now have a one year
maternity leave - they will be looking for something to do. Since there is
such a poor support network for moms newly at home, a lot of them will end
up walking around the shopping malls in the winter, just to get out of the
house. Malls that are baby and child friendly will attract these new moms,
and they will have a new customer.

I would approach these types of businesses:
Family-oriented malls, family restaraunts, simple (not gourmet) take-out
food, laundry detergents, cable TV or video rentals, churches, community
associations, daycares, home renovation stores, car dealerships (time to
trade the sports car for a van?) toy stores, photography studios, video and
camera stores, photo developers, "scrapbooking" stores, fabric and craft
stores, grocery stores, baby and kids clothing stores, discount and
"warehouse" grocery stores, appliance stores, realtors (time to quit renting
or buy a bigger house?), insurance companies, education or investment funds.
NOT live theatre or movie theatres, fancy restaurants, dry cleaners for
fancy or work clothes, high end luxury goods, high end furniture or clothes,
stereo stores.

This same list could be used anytime you need to seek funds to support some
program, event, etc you are organizing. And these are the businesses whose
advertisements should be breastfeeding-friendly.

Don't go "begging for donations" - you are providing access to our "saavy,
intelligent, educated, lucrative breastfeeding consumers"

Hope this helps.
