I am looking at the IBLCE Code of Ethics. The last section is how "To Lodge A Complaint." This is available on the IBCLE web site. My printed copy says http://www.iblce.org/Ethics.htm.

Part of what it says is... "IBCLCs shall act in a manner that justifies public trust in their competence, enhances the reputation of the profession, and safeguards the interests of individual clients."

"Only signed, written complaints will be considered. Anonymous complaints will be discarded. The IBCLE will become involved only in matters that can be factually determined, and will provide the accused party with every opportunity to respond in a professional and legally defensible manner."

Then it gives the name and address of where to address complaints.

Ethics Principle No. 14 is where it talks about presenting professional qualifications accurately and not saying you are IBCLC unless you have been authorized to do so.

Under ICLA's Standards of Practice, it talks about Assessment, Plan, Implementation, and Evaluation. One part of this is communication and collaboration with other health care professionals.

Does anyone know how to prove that another IBCLC isn't doing consultations to standards of practice? Do you have to have the mother complain that this wasn't done? Can you, the IBCLC, just report that a mother told you specifically that certain things were not done?

If we should complain to IBCLE about the ebay offer, did anyone get her name and address? I didn't see it, I just saw her "credentials."

Kathy Eng, BSW, IBCLC
