Interesting. That theory makes logical sense, but I have one bit of
anecdotal evidence that does not bear it out. LOL.

I have a 26 year old daughter who has amblyopia. She nursed for 18
months, nursed equally from both sides, isn't a twin and doesn't have a
mother with one working breast. I also have a 12 year old son who does
not have amblyopia... and he was breastfed for almost 4 years on those
same breasts. ;)

We (her eye doctor and I) believe my daughter's amblyopia was the result
of mild esotropic strabismus that, unfortunately, went undetected until
her weak eye was so bad that the weakness showed up in a vision test at
school. And, extremely unfortunately, none of the various treatments we
tried improved her vision in the weak eye. :/ Looking back at pictures of
her at a very young age, I can see - with hindsight - that one of her eyes
turned in ever so slightly... perhaps from Day One. Of course, lots of
young babies have temporary issues with crossing eyes, etc. so none of us
recognized this as a problem for her. It's amazing - and sad - that
esotropia so very mild has caused her to lose almost all use of her weak
eye. She also has very little depth perception because of this. :(

Anyway... I don't believe that her amblyopia was caused by any of the
factors you mentioned, and she certainly wasn't a bottle-fed baby. :)

Cee
