Geri, Macrobid is approved by the American Acad of Pediatrics for use in
breastfeeding mothers. There is no need to pump and dump or wash out or
anything. This information is in Tom Hale's 2002 book. Medications in
Mothers' Milk. It says do not use in infants of less than 4 weeks, but I am
not sure if this means don't give it DIRECTLY to the infant, or don't give
it to mothers who have infants less than 1 month. Tom? Kathleen
