At the hospital where I work part-time, we were surveyed in July and the
nurse examiner was not very kind.  She wanted to see evidence that
nutritional teaching was being conducted prenatally, prior to admission to
the hospital.  In other words, a seamless system from physician offices to
hospital.  Yet, it's frustrating because as we know, nutrition can be poor
and yet mother can indeed supply milk for her infant.  She kept reiterating
good nutritional advice.  Perhaps of more relevance would have been how many
of your patients attend a breastfeeding class prenatally to teach the "how
to's" of breastfeeding with emphasis on the seamless system between physician
offices prenatally and the hospital admission.  She had an attitude....
