What is the concern regarding the fact that she's not menstruating?  Is she or her doctor under the impression that something is wrong with her body?  I don't have PCOS, but I have gone 2 years without periods/being fertile with each of my children.  I went a bit longer with #2 and #3 I suspect b/c I was tandem nursing and they had a more gradual shift away from nursing at night (I night-weaned their brother due to severe PPD & sleep deprivation on my part -- it was night-wean or completely wean I was going crazy).  I think that today's society assumes that a woman who doesn't menstruate has something wrong with her and it could just be that this is what is going to be normal for this mother's body.  I'm just wondering if it's a case of worrying about nothing.  I do know that PCOS can affect a woman's cycle so perhaps there is a concern more from that standpoint but in general, going 21 months w/o periods doesn't sound like something to sound the alarm over.
