A mom I have been working with for some time is very frustrated that her
day care center is throwing her milk away after 48 hours. They gave her a
handout from the USDA on milk storage guidelines for daycare providers that
states milk should be discarded after forty eight hours. So they are
throwing out her milk. This means that she can't leave milk on friday for
monday because they toss it. What is up here? i tell moms milk is ok for
atleast five days, Medela's handouts say 72 hours. What can we do to
change this? Working moms have a tough enough job without help from the
government making it worse. Any ideas to help this mom. Of course she
could keep her milk at home until right before it is needed but that is a
big hassle for her and risky should the baby want more on a particular day.

Thanks,
