Lynn asked, " A patient called and asked me about the use of
Splenda while breastfeeding. Suppose to be a sugar substitute made from
sugar?? Has anyone any knowledge of product and safety for use while
breastfeeding?".

I don't have any information on Splenda but did want to make a general
comment on the logic that if it's made from sugar it's 'like' sugar.
Trans fats (aka hydrogenated oils) can be made from vegetable oil but
they seem to behave more like lard than vegetable oil in the body. So
I'm sceptical about sucralose....
